Explore the Trades
OVERVIEW
The Youth Explore Trades Skills (YETS) program, a partnership between NVIT and local school districts, lets learners explore carpentry, culinary, welding, and electrical trades. It develops safe workplace practices and workforce skills, preparing students for industry-specific roles with potential certifications like First Aid, WHMIS, and FoodSafe. Registered with SkilledTradesBC, it ensures recognized credentials and job readiness.
The Youth Explore Trades Skills (YETS) gives learners an opportunity to explore four trades: carpentry, culinary, welding, and electrical. Learners will also develop safe workplace practices and workforce skill development. Familiarity offers learners theoretical and practical knowledge in an experiential and realistic overview. As part of the program, learners will be job-ready by learning industry and trade-specific content, which could result in students qualifying for specific industry-related certificates such as First Aid, WHMIS, Fall Protection, FoodSafe, and SiteReadyBC.
The Youth Explore Trades Skills program is a partnership between NVIT and involved school districts. This is a Dual Credit program registered with SkilledTradesBC.

Registered in Grades 10, 11, or 12 with a partnering school district.
