OVERVIEW
The Indigenous Support Worker Training aims to prepare students to be valuable support members in Community with the ability to promote and maintain the physical, emotional, cognitive, and social well-being of clients in a non-direct patient care capacity under the supervision of a health professional.
The Indigenous Support Worker Training Micro-credential is a program that focuses on training students to work in Indigenous communities as health care assistants. The program covers various topics such as cultural diversity within Indigenous groups; respecting traditional knowledge and practice; providing culturally sensitive care; health access for Indigenous people; confidentiality and communication; culturally sensitive communication; components of health care, self-care, and holistic care; introduction to the human body; cleaning practices; and community relevance. Upon completion of the program, students will have acquired the necessary skills and knowledge to work as support workers in Indigenous communities.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
- Grade 12 graduation, Mature Student status, or equivalent;
- English 10 or equivalent;
- Math 10 or equivalent.

CAREER PATHWAYS
Upon completing the course, students will be prepared to serve as valuable support members within healthcare teams. This program can also be used as a stepping stone to ladder into the Health Care Assistant Program.

RECEIVE A LETTER
