In Partnership with Bonaparte First nation, NVIT, and UBC NITEP
OVERVIEW
The Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) is a partnership teacher education program designed for Indigenous learners who wish to become certified teachers while remaining connected to their communities. Delivered collaboratively by the Nicola Valley Institute of Technology (NVIT), Bonaparte First Nation, and the University of British Columbia’s Indigenous Teacher Education Program (NITEP), the program is grounded in Indigenous perspectives, relational accountability, and land‑based learning approaches.
The program supports Indigenous students who have completed a minimum of 60 post‑secondary credits or who hold a fully conferred bachelor’s degree and are seeking to pursue a career in education. Through a cohort-based model, students progress together through a shared learning journey that emphasizes community, continuity, and academic support.
