Nsyilxcen language proficiency in adult learners prepares them for learning and hearing Nsyilxcen sounds. The student will actively participate in an Okanagan introduction to Nsyilxcen. Instruction method develops proper pronunciation skills in the forty-seven separate sounds of Nsyilxcen, develops recognition and differentiation of separate sounds in speech. This method provides the learner with foundational communication skills as a beginner learner.

Procedure:
|
Assignments 50 - 70%, Final 30 - 50%, Total 100 %.
Grading procedures follow NVIT policy.

Learning Outcomes:
|
Upon successful completion of this course students should be able to:
pronounce all sounds correctly;
recognize, identify and pronounce all forty-seven sounds of N’syilxcen as a part of speech;
introduce others, greetings and responses;
conjugate personal pronouns;
articulate ten command sentences; and
fluently use ten present tense action words in short sentences with proper pronoun forms.

Audiotapes held in the En’owkin library will be used, including songs, stories and conversations.

Audio taped pronunciation drills will be given for beginner N’syilxcen students.
