Steps to Apply

NVIT  APPLICATION - REGISTRATION PROCESS:

Ø    Before you Apply:

Planning for College:

The most successful college students plan well before they arrive. Make sure you consider your personal, academic and financial readiness to attend NVIT.

If you have questions about getting started contact one of our Academic Planners, who can help make sure you're prepared for college life. 

 

Becoming a Student at NVIT:

Before you apply:

·      Do you satisfy NVIT’s admission policy? Do you know what program you are applying for?

·      Do you have the program's admission requirements? 

·      Do you still have questions about academic advising?

·      Do you still have questions about financial aid or getting funding?

 Ø    How to Apply:

Step 1 :      Fill out an Application

                    -          You can apply online using the Apply BC website https://applybc.ca 
                          
or download an application form.   
                  Hard copy applications can be sent to the Office of the Registrar at the campus you plan on attending.

Step 2 :      Submit Transcripts:

 

                    -  Submit *Official Transcripts to NVIT (*An official transcript is sealed and sent directly from the issuing institution to NVIT.)  

                    -    High school students: If you are applying to come to NVIT directly from high school please provide us 
                        with your current high school transcripts.
  You can either get your transcripts sent from your highschool or 
                        order your transcripts throught the Ministry of Education- Transcripts
                        PO Box 9886 STN PROV GOVT Victoria BC V8W 9T6     www.bced.gov.bc.ca/transcript

 

Step 3:       Supporting Documents:

             -  Please ensure you check whether your program requires any other supporting documentation besides 

                       official transcripts;

                    -  If you need assistance contact an Academic Planner;

                -  Once the supporting documents are received they will be assessed to ensure the program requirements are met; 

Ø   After you Apply at NVIT:

You will Receive an your Application Status:

                    -          If applicant meets all requirements a full offer of acceptance letter will be sent to them from the
                           Registrar’s Office; 

                    -
         
If applicant does not meet the requirements a conditional offer letter will be sent and application will 
                           stay at pending until all required documents are received;

You will Receive an Eligible to Register Acceptance:

                    -          As soon as registration is open students will receive an eligible to register letter from the Registrar’s 
                           Office including NVITConnect Registration Steps and Tips, on how to register on NVIT Connect (*see 
                           information below What is NVIT Connect);

Note:  Continue to NVIT Connect to register for your courses . Accepted application does not mean you are automatically 
                   enrolled in your classes. 

Ø   Searching & Registering for Classes at NVIT:

 

Searching for Classes at NVIT:

                    -          You will need to use NVIT’s user friendly database, NVITConnect, to search for course offerings;

Note:  You do not need to be a student to search our database for courses, sign into NVIT Connect as a guest and 
                   search the database to see what the course offerings are; 

What is NVITConnect:

              -     NVIT Connect is a user friendly database offered by NVIT to assist potential and current 

                             students in managing their personal and education records. 

                    -       Students can access NVITConnect from NVIT main website at  
www.nvit.bc.ca then select
                                         the NVITConnect button.

                    -       Anyone can search NVITConnect to see the course offerings at NVIT on both campuses. Students of 

                                        NVIT can search for courses; register for courses; up-date contact information; 

 FOR RETURNING AND CURRENT STUDENTS, USE MY NVIT  

What is myNVIT?

MyNVIT is a portal which provides NVIT students with access to:

·         NVITConnect and Outlook Email;

·         External applications like bookmarks, RSS Feeds weather; and

·         Personal Calendars, Team Sites, Shared Documents, and current NVIT News and Events.

Accessing myNVIT

In your internet browser, enter: mynvit.ca and the window shown below will appear.

Username and Password

For STUDENTS:

Your username is: nvit0\ followed by a lowercase n and your 7 digit student number (e.g. Student ID 5907 has a username of nvit0\n0005907). See example screen.

Your PASSWORD has been reset as your birthday in the following format: DDMonYYYY. For example if your birth date is November 8, 1987 your password is reset to 08Nov1987. Note that the first letter of the month is capitalized and the month is abbreviated to three digits.

Note: If you have difficulty accessing myNVIT, check with staff in the Registrar’s Office or IT (Computing Services).

NVITConnect

All current NVIT students have access to NVITConnect which is a web interface to NVIT’s Student Information system. Students use NVITConnect to register in courses, view academic records, check their progress towards program completion or view tax information.

NVITConnect is available on the myNVIT homepage and looks like this:

 

To return to the main menu or refresh for a complete list of items, click on the Main Menu option or choose the refresh arrows in the upper right-hand corner.

 

 

 

 

 

Registration

The registration menu includes the ability to Search for Sections, Register for Sections, Register or Drop Sections or Section Waitlists menus.

Search for Sections will allow you to Search for Sections at any time. The Register for Sections menu is the usual one to use. Follow these STEPS to get registered.


 Registration - Step 1 – Select Register for Sections

Select Register for Sections and the following menu will appear:

 

Registration - Step 2 – Select Search and Register for Sections

 

Choose Search and Register for Sections.

Then, on this form, enter the following:

·         Enter the term from the drop down menu.

·         Choose your subject from the drop down menu and hit submit for all the course listings within that subject matter. 

·         Ensure you have selected a location (near the bottom of the page).

Then press submit.

Hints:

1. Course level, course number and section can be left blank;

2. Other fields can be completed (e.g. to search for specific instructors).

See Example.

Press Submit and NVITConnect will display all sections offered in that term, with that subject and at that location.

Registration - Step 3 – Select Sections and Register

The items you entered in Step 2 will return the available sections. See example following:

To select your sections, click on the SELECT BOX   and a check mark will appear next to the course you would like to take. At the bottom of the screen you will click on SUBMIT to submit your selection(s).

Registration – Step 4 – Register in Your Section

To register in a section, select Register and then Click on Submit. See example following:

 

Registration – Step 5 – Account Summary

Once you press Submit, the Account Summary screen will display showing any tuition owing (if applicable).  Payment is required by published fee deadlines. Payment may be made in person using cash, debit or credit card at either campus during office hours.
