The Aboriginal Early Care and Learning Program (AECL) is a program designed in collaboration with the College of New Caledonia (CNC) in Prince George, Northern Lights College (NLC) in Dawson Creek, and the Northwest Community College (NWCC) in Terrace, created as an on-line Early Childhood Education Course specializing in Aboriginal content. The Aboriginal Early Care and Learning program (AECL) is designed to meet provincial certification and licensing standards. The program will adhere to academic, community and First Nations standards to ensure that collaboration students are successful and effective child development workers in BC communities. This program differs from the on-campus Aboriginal Early Childhood Education program in that it is carried out entirely on-line. On-line courses are transferable to NVIT's Aboriginal Early Childhood Education program, as well as, to the other collaboration institutions. Licensing & Job Opportunities: The Aboriginal Early Care and Learning Program (AECL) is approved by the Ministry of Children and Family Development and the Early Childhood Educator Registry. Successful completion of the program will allow graduates to work with children 0 to 12 as well as supervise children up to a private kindergarten level. Admission Requirements
