Job Description:

NVIT has a requirement for a full time, ongoing Systems & Applications Support Technician at our Merritt Campus and invites applications from qualified individuals.    

Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Manager, Information Technology, and collaboration with the Manager, Applications and Systems, the Systems and Applications Support Technician provides client end-user support related to Information Technology, and is responsible for assisting in the use, maintenance, and operation of the institute systems at the Merritt campus. This includes operational support in student and instructional labs, the installation and repair of staff and student work stations, printers, telephones, data projectors, security cameras, video-conference equipment and other related equipment.

This position may be required to work day, evening, and weekend shifts.



Requirements/Qualifications:

  • A diploma in a related field and 4 years equivalent work experience. Industry certification, such as Comp TIA, A+, N+ and S+ is desired or must be pursuing certification with completion in a two-year period from the hire date.

  •  Class 5 Driver’s License and be willing to travel between campuses when necessary;

  • have the ability to work independently;

  • Extended or altered working hours may be required occasionally for projects, downtime emergencies, or classroom support

  •  solid working knowledge of hardware, software, networks and telecommunication systems

  • experience with Microsoft Suit (Office365, Windows 10, Teams), supporting and installing other applications as required

  • knowledge of network printers, projectors, video-conference equipment, phones, wireless

  • ability to analyze faults in equipment with a minimum amount of technical documentation;

  • analytical, interpersonal and written communication skills;

  • demonstrated ability to work and problem-solve independently and to work well within a team;

  • experience working with a learning management system is an asset (i.e. Moodle).

  • strong customer service orientation; and

  • have knowledge of Indigenous culture
