Job Description:

NVIT has a requirement for a full time, ongoing Custodian at our Merritt Campus and invites applications from qualified individuals.  Normal working hours are 2:00pm -10:00pm Monday through Thursday and 10:00am to 6:00pm on Friday - different shifts may be required. 

Job Summary:

The custodian will work under the direction of the Facilities Planner and in cooperation with other custodial staff, to complete general duties to ensure that all facilities are kept clean and that NVIT is a healthy and safe environment to work in.  These duties will include daily cleaning of restrooms, offices, classrooms, hallways, etc. Other duties may include washing walls, cleaning carpets, sweeping sidewalks and other outdoor tasks as required. Concrete floors may need to be restored, burnished, and waxed therefore candidates must be physically capable of moving furniture and handling burnishing and waxing equipment. Training will be provided on the use of the janitorial equipment.


  • Minimum of two years related experience

  • have the ability to work independently

  • be able to perform moderate to heavy physical work

  • must be bondable

  • have knowledge of Indigenous culture
