Job Description:
NVIT anticipates a need for one Recruitment, Admissions & Registration Officer at the Burnaby campus and invites applications from qualified candidates. This will be a full-time, ongoing support staff position that will start as soon as a suitable candidate is found.
Job Summary:
The Recruitment, Admissions & Registration Officer (RARO) is a member of the Enrolment Services Team and is responsible for the student recruitment, admissions, and registration functions of NVIT. Normal hours of work will be 8:30am – 4:30pm, Monday through Friday. Some evening and weekend work is required periodically, particularly in peak times. The RARO also processes prospect inquiries and applications, admits students, assists students with registration processes, maintains program applicant lists, and prepares registration and information packages to send to prospective and current students. This position will work with the Events Planner at the NVIT Merritt campus to assist with campus events held on the Burnaby campus and is responsible for coordinating and planning NVIT Burnaby recruitment activities. The RARO represents NVIT at career fairs and other promotional events and participates in various recruitment activities throughout the province for which travel is required. Guided by principles of integrity, shared responsibility, consistency, and collaboration, the Enrolment Services Team supports learner aspirations through the delivery of quality and accessible Indigenous support services.
Student Recruitment:
- Increase awareness throughout the lower mainland and British Columbia about the opportunities at NVIT for on-campus and off-campus education.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships, sharing NVIT information and materials with community partners, and hosting events and activities both on-campus and off-campus in partnership with First Nation Communities, Indigenous organizations, and educational institutes within the K-12 and post-secondary systems.
- Communicate to the internal and external NVIT community about on-campus events and activities.
- Providing documented, detailed plans and reports on institutional events/activities hosted both on and off campus
- Represent NVIT while visiting Indigenous Communities, at trade shows, high schools, career fairs, and other promotional events.
- Support planning and hosting NVIT events that are held on the Burnaby campus (Graduation, NVIT career fair, campus tours, etc.).
Admissions and Registration:
- Data entry with a high level of accuracy in Ellucian Colleague (SIS).
- Process application and application packages and manage application and admissions.
- Register, add, drop, and withdraw students from courses.
- Provide technical support to students (assisting with access to Self-Service, Teams, Office 365, course information, Faculty contacts etc.).
- Build course sections.
- Process credential and transcript requests.
- Handle all inquiries concerning application requests and procedures, student records and registration, general program information, and general inquiries about NVIT.
- Create and maintain student record files.
- Report on prospects, admissions, and registration data to the Associate Registrar – Vancouver.
- Assist students with booking Academic and Financial Planner appointments and managing appointment calendars in Outlook.
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements/Qualifications:
- Relevant Post-Secondary Diploma with a minimum of one year experience working in the BC public post-secondary system preferably in a recruiting and/or admissions and registration environment. Equivalent education and experience may be considered.
- Extensive computer systems experience with proficiency in the following application software: Microsoft Office Suite (especially Teams, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook), Colleague, Self-Service, Education Planner BC.
- A detail-oriented ability to analyze, process, and disseminate information through diverse mediums.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
- A demonstrated commitment to quality service to students, the public, and the NVIT community.
- Ability to work and problem-solve both independently and in a team environment.
- Proven ability to multi-task, establish work priorities and work in a high-volume, detailed environment with attention to accuracy and timelines.
- Valid driver’s license and a willingness to travel frequently, occasionally in rural settings.
- Understand Canada’s colonial history and the devastating impacts on Indigenous peoples and Indigenous ways of being and knowing.
- Practice from a holistic, culturally safe and trauma-informed lens.
- Knowledge of and appreciation for Indigenous languages and cultures, and Indigenous lived experiences.
- Proven ability to build collaborative working relationships to achieve outcomes in the best interest of students and NVIT.
- Consent to a criminal record check through the Ministry of Justice Public Safety.
