Course Details
This course will provide an immersion in St'at'imcets and assists students in gaining a greater understanding of grammatical structures and expanding their St'at'imcets vocabulary. Students will continue to enhance their ability to understand and speak St'at'imcets, thereby gaining greater fluency, conversational ability, literary skills, and enhanced knowledge of oral traditions.

    Procedure:
    Assignments 50-70%, Final 30-50%, Total 100%. Grading procedures follow NVIT policy.
    Learning Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course students should be able to:
  • communicate in a wide range of everyday situations including the community life and events of the St’at’imc;

  • respond comfortably to commands and greetings in St’át’imcets using phrases or short sentences;

  • demonstrate the ability to respond accordingly to cultural protocols of the St’at’imcets;

  • demonstrate the ability to respond according to oral traditions of the St’at’imcets;

  • in conversation demonstrate use of grammatical structures and sounds associated with St’át’imcets; and

  • demonstrate an understanding of the connections between St’at’imcets and the culture associated with the ways of life of the St’at’imc.
