Course Details
SECW 250 will continue to build on the language skills developed in SECW 151. Students will develop an enhanced ability to understand and speak Secwepemctsin, gaining greater fluency, conversational ability, literary skills, as well as a broader knowledge of oral traditions.

    Procedure:

    Assignments: 50-70%, Final 30-50%, Total 100%. Grading procedures follow NVIT policy.

     

    Learning Outcomes:

    Upon successful completion of this course students should be able to:



    • speak and respond in a wide variety of conversational situations;

    • communicate clearly in a variety of everyday classroom, family and community situations;

    • speak and respond to questions in Secwepemctsin based on the topic of discussion;

    • demonstrate, through language use, the holistic relationship between the seasons and the environment; 

    • articulate a variety of sentence structures using an enhanced vocabulary; and

    • demonstrate an understanding of the connections between Secwepemctsin and the culture associated with the way of life of the Secwepemc.
