NLEK-140 - Nle?kepmx Language Tools I - 3.00 Credits

Course Details
This course is an introductory-level course. No prior knowledge of the language is required for this entry-level course. The course will provide students with the tools to learn the language and work with a language expert (instructor, fluent speaker, elder). The course provides learners with essential phrases, as well as assist them with learning the language and assist them with learning the language. Students will learn the principle about leaving English behind, and learn to convey every object and process in Nle?kepmxcin. Students will learn the basic phrases as well as the process of participating in early immersion settings.

    Learning Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course students should be able to:


    • demonstrate and understanding of how to respectfully work with fluent Nle?kepmxcin speakers as "early immersion learners"; 

    • speak so as to demonstrate understanding of key Nle?kepmxcin phrases;

    • use phrases in Nle?kepmxcin that are appropriate for requesting assistance in early immersion conversation; 

    • demonstrate an understanding of the use of basic Nle?kepmxcin sentence structure format;

    • demonstrate an ability to function in an everyday immersion setting including learning techniques to listen for key sounds; and

    • recognize common Nle?kepmxcin words and phrases.
