This course is designed to provide insight to the Secwepemc people's history and culture. Students will study the lifestyle of the Secwepemc prior to contact with European cultures, and they will follow the events that progressed to the current status of the Secwepemc peoples.

Procedure:
|
Assignments 50 - 70%, Final 30 - 50%, Total 100 %.
Grading procedures follow NVIT policy.

Learning Outcomes:
|
Upon completion of this course, the student should demonstrate knowledge, skills, and/or attitudes in the following:
indicate an understanding of the world of the Secwepemc peoples;
discuss the historic importance of the Secwepemc peoples;
begin to recognize the similarities as well as the differences between the Secwepemc peoples and the European settlers who arrived in the 1800s;
read, analyze, and interpret various events and themes in Secwepemc peoples history;
possess a broad overview of Secwepemc history; and
communicate thoughts clearly and concisely in essay and verbal formats.
