Sunday July 12: Welcome, Check-In and Optional Sweat

Staff will be available at the NVIT campus from 4PM to 8PM to welcome you and to check you in.

Sweat Ceremony

NWDUG participants have been invited by the NVIT Elders to participate in an optional sweat on Sunday July 12, 2009 at 7:00 pm. This traditional ceremony is designed to cleanse, heal and balance participants. Males and females take separate sweats.

If you would like to participate, plan to be at NVIT by 6:30 PM on Sunday July 12, 2009.

Following are some guidelines: participants must bring their bathing suit (or shorts and a shirt) and a towel. Participants cannot wear contacts, jewellery or glasses and must also be drug and alcohol free at least 24 hours prior to the sweat. Female participants cannot be on their time of the month and it's protocol for females to bring a blanket as a gift (used is fine) and males to bring a gift of tobacco. The sweat lasts anywhere between 2-3 hours.

If you are interested in participating, please send an email to Jennifer Narcisse at jnarcisse@nvit.bc.ca with a subject line of NWDUG: Sweat. Jennifer will keep you updated with details.
