Approved/revised: May 16, 2007
This policy establishes guidelines for managing Institute-owned and operated computer networks and services provided on Institute owned and operated networks.
PURPOSE / RATIONALE
The purpose of the policy is to ensure the security and stability of the Institute’s computing network while enabling the creation and operation of services on the Institute network that meet legitimate educational, administrative and support needs.
SCOPE / LIMITS
This policy applies to the use of all equipment connected to the Institute computer network through wired or wireless interfaces and the use of software on such equipment.

2. The Institute reserves the right to establish guidelines for the operation and maintenance of services on computers acting as servers on the Institute computer network. All Institute members with delegated responsibility for the administration of such services are required to operate within these guidelines.
3. The Institute reserves the right to establish guidelines for the use of wireless technology and the radio frequencies used for such technology.
4. Appropriate Institute authority must authorize all software provided on the Institute network.
