This course will expose the student to an advanced analysis of word-formation and introductory analysis of Secwpemctsín sentence structure. Topics to be discussed will include various word-structures, basic to more-complex sentence types, and an introductory analysis of traditional narratives. Comparisons will be made with the immediate neighboring languages.

Learning Outcomes:

Upon successful completion of this course students should be able to:
- articulate components of Secwepemctsin structure including word, sentence and morphological structure;
- articulate the various structural components of the Secwepemctsin structure including morphological structure;
- analyze the structure of various forms of text: conversational, traditional stories;
- perform an analysis of language word formation structures on an advanced level; and
- discuss similarities and differences between Secwepemctsin and the neighboring Interior Salish language as related to this course.
