This course is designed to immerse learners in Secwepemctsín in order to develop language competency. This course will provide the learner with an introduction to communication skills as a part of becoming a beginning speaker. It will be delivered in a focused and concentrated time period the course will involve a wide range of activities in a cultural context.

Procedure:
|
Assignments 50-70%, Final 30-50%, Total 100%.
Grading procedures follow NVIT policy.

Learning Outcomes:
|
Upon successful completion of this course students should be able to:
speak and respond in everyday conversational situations;
communicate appropriately during simulated community life and events of the Secwépemc;
communicate in response to simple commands and greetings in Secwepemctsín;
demonstrate an understanding of basic oral traditions and cultural protocols of Secwepemctsín;
demonstrate the use of grammatical structures and sounds associated with Secwepemctsín; and
demonstrate an understanding of the connections between the Secwépemc and the culturally associated ways of life of the Secwépemc.
