Course Details
This course introduces students to a holistic concept of health and the components of a health-enhancing lifestyle. Students will be invited to reflect on their own experience of health, recognizing challenges and resources that can impact lifestyle choices. Students will be introduced to a model that can be applied in other courses to understand the multi-faceted aspects of health and healing.

    Instructors Qualifications: Relevant Master's Degree
    Office Hours: 1.5 per week

    Procedure:
    Assignments 50-70%, Final 30-50%. Total 100%. Grading procedures follow NVIT policy. Note: Students must achieve a minimum grade of C+ in order to proceed into further HTCA courses.
    Learning Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course students should be able to:
  • describe the interrelationship of physical, social, cognitive, emotional and spiritual dimensions and Determinants of Health;

  • display an understanding of how lifestyle choices and behaviours contribute to physical, psychological, social, cognitive and spiritual health; and

  • display an understanding of the complexity of the change process in relation to health promotion.
